Having never really 'dated' before, being in my 40s and out of a long term relationship I nervously tried this 'internet dating'.

A bit like real dating, I shyly sent smiles to begin with, got my confidence and paid for a membership and started chatting with people, and found the message boards and the community that is FSO. I met with some people as 'dates', went to some group events and met lots of like minded people. Lots of these people I count as friends now.

I learned heaps along the way about myself and what I do and dont want in a person and in a relationship. Tough criteria as only 2 people made it passed the first date. One of those people I had been aware of on the message boards and hadnt thought of them as potential partner material - they lived in a different city to me and shorter. I thought that was important! After the natural support this person gives was shown to me in a supportive way when I was having a moan on the message boards .... well, we have been together over 3 and a half years now, engaged and we will be married next January.
