When Mike met Sarah
NELSON BAYS
She looks quite good I thought, maybe I'll send her a message, keep it cool and breezy, nice and laid back... send, Oh, I wonder if that sent? Best send it again... seven times later I'm kind of feeling a little less laid back! (I hope she doesn't notice)
Seven times!.... For crying out loud, this man seems a bit obsessive... The exact same letter. Seven times... what is this guy doing? Although... I guess it shows a level of commitment and, well... after all that's all us girls really look for in a man.
Phew a reply, she mustn't have noticed after all! Keep cool, concentrate... Going well so far, great! Then she says she'd like to meet up... Whoa slow down ya little redhead, sounds like commitment... Where the hell did she get the impression that I was committed from! Ok ask her on a date... Tell her she can come round to my place, should be a cheap night out!
What? So he asks me to his house for a first date... Is this guy cheap or what? Not to mention the safety risks... Anyone that compulsively sends a first message SEVEN times and wants me to come to his house could be a compulsive obsessive agoraphobic!.... Sure, why not... See you Friday night.
Sarah did come around on that fateful Friday night, 18 months ago, and when I saw her I turned the grill on the oven off... Rationalising that cold cheese on toast would be nice in the morning, this hot little redhead needed to be taken out to a classy restaurant, and so we did.
Mike took me to a lovely restaurant after I met him at his place. We had a great meal at the Apple Shed looking out over the Mapua inlet, really good conversation, lots of laughs... and then he asked me to come back to his place. Oh well what have I got to loose, my car was already there anyway!
Sarah did come back for coffee, we played some snooker... seriously. On a proper pool table, with balls and a wooden stick, sound like fun? She beat me on my own pool table! Time for you to go home little lady and have a think about how much you want this relationship... then you can come back and we'll have another game, hope that wasn't taking it too far. I really like this little redhead.
So we enjoyed playing pool... amazing how bad he was at playing considering he's got his own table, oh well he seemed to take a good thrashing quite well. Time to go home, don't take it too far on the first date, don't want to come across as easy. Hard to do though, he was hot! A little kiss and I'm on my way.
Eighteen months on and we are in the process of shifting in together. The agoraphobia has us shifting into his house! (Jokes!) We have done so many amazing things together, for example for Mike's 40th we flew to Auckland and hitchhiked back to Nelson.
Sarah fell in love with my favourite sport of motocross, and after only three motocrosses, two broken ribs, one dislocated shoulder, one punctured lung, and an ongoing struggle with severe tendonitis in the right wrist she now owns her own motocross bike (which is currently in the workshop having its bent handlebars replaced) and comes event riding with me. What a woman.
Mike finally capitulated, and after only minor constant nagging has agreed that I know best about everything. As a result I am moving in and changing the way he dresses, eats, speaks, and while I'm at it possibly walks... I'm sure we will be incredibly happy together... I can't wait to see his reaction when I tell him what I have planned next...
Sarah has changed my life, I just seem to dress better, eat healthier, and swear less... seriously FindSomeone has dramatically altered the course of my future, Sarah has been the most incredible 'find'... She is more than 'someone', she is the 'only one'. She has been my rock through hard times, is my confidant, my best friend, and I consider myself the luckiest bloke ever to walk. And to think that it started online!
Imagine actually meeting someone online! I only came on this site because my friends kept nagging at me to try it... I was the biggest skeptic and never in a million years thought anyone remotely nice would be on here looking to meet a girl. Turns out I was wrong, not only did I meet a nice guy, I met a guy who makes me laugh, who makes me feel like the most special girl in the world, the only guy for me.
TESTIMONIAL:
We have both just commented to each other that the fact we are sitting here on an innocuous Tuesday night, eighteens months after that first message (or seven), after midnight, still laughing and writing our story together, is simply a testament to our compatibility which is the foundation of our relationship, and the importance of the FindSomeone site.
Thank you,
Mike and Sarah
